Tummy Tuck

A tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty, is a popular cosmetic surgical procedure performed to remove excess skin and fat from the midsection. In many cases, a tummy tuck will also involve tightening or repairing the abdominal muscles. Ultimately, the goal of the procedure is to create a firmer and more toned abdomen which can be maintained through a healthy lifestyle.

What is a tummy tuck?

Our tummy tuck or abdominoplasty procedure is performed under general anesthesia at an accredited outpatient surgical center. This procedure removes excess skin and fat from the abdominal area, and tightens the abdominal wall with sutures. Our highly sought after board certified Cosmetic Surgeon, Dr. Susan Yang in Bellevue/Seattle Wa will strategically place your incision as low and esthetically pleasing as possible on the abdomen to minimize scarring to ensure it is easily hidden beneath your underwear and swimsuit line.

She also takes extra time to reposition and reconstruct your new belly button to ensure that your final results look natural. Drains are inserted to reduce the risk of fluid collections and promote wound healing. Finally, a compression garment is placed to help your body conform to its new shape. Her expertise in performing tummy tucks ensures that each procedure is tailored to your unique anatomy and desired outcome.
With meticulous attention to detail and a focus on patient satisfaction, Dr. Susan Yang's tummy tucks can help you achieve the sculpted, contoured abdomen you desire. The Bellevue Body Queen's approach utilizes today’s advanced techniques and prioritizes patient safety and precision to deliver beautiful, balanced results that turn heads and boost confidence.

What are the different types of tummy tuck?

Mini Tummy Tuck
  • This procedure is suitable for both men and women who suffer from minimal excess skin, mainly below the belly button.
  • One incision is made along the lower abdomen over the pubic area.
  • The primary focus is to remove the excess skin below the navel with no muscle repair or reshaping of the belly button.
Full Tummy Tuck
  • This is the most common form of the procedure and is best for patients who have experienced weight loss or pregnancy-related laxity.
  • Incisions are made hip to hip along the lower abdomen, in the pubic hairline, with another incision around the belly button.
  • Both skin and excess fat are removed from the abdomen to achieve the best improvement in abdominal contour, and is often paired with liposuction.
  • The muscles of the abdominal wall are re-tightened with sutures.
  • A new opening for the belly button is created.
Extended Tummy Tuck
  • This procedure is usually required in patients who have experienced massive weight loss or multiple childbirths.
  • A longer incision is made in the lower abdomen from hip to hip and extends along the flanks to create the best abdominal contour possible.
  • This enhances the appearance of the waist and flank contour.
  • Re-tightens the abdominal muscles.
  • A new opening for the belly button is created
Fleur-fe-lis Tummy Tuck
  • This procedure is usually required in patients who have experienced massive weight loss or multiple childbirths with excess skin vertically and horizontally.
  • Horizontal incision like a tummy tuck with an additional vertical incision from lower abdomen to breast bone.
  • Allows for more extensive tissue removal but with a more noticeable scar.

Is a Tummy Tuck Right For Me And What Can It Achieve?

Our cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Susan Yang Belleve/Seattle Wa recommends a tummy tuck to patients with excess abdominal skin and an overhanging belly. Excess skin will not go away with diet or exercise, the only option to remove excess or loose skin is through abdominoplasty.

This procedure is life changing for patients that deal with loose skin that rubs or hangs. If you have been pregnant or experienced large weight fluctuations it is very common to have separation in the abdominal wall known as diastasis. We address this by plicating the abdominal muscles (suturing together) to act as an inner corset and help give your stomach a flatter smoother appearance with an improved waistline.

You are a suitable candidate for a tummy tuck if:

  • You are in generally good physical health
  • Have loose skin around the midsection
  • Have loose abdominal muscles
  • BMI under 40
  • Have the desire for a slimmer, more toned abdominal area
  • Have reasonable expectations for the procedure
  • Be a non-smoker
  • Relatively close to your ideal weight
  • Not be currently pregnant or breastfeeding

Dr. Yang will patiently listen to your concerns and advise you on the best procedure to achieve your desired results. For more information, please schedule your Tummy Tuck Seattle, Bellevue appointment today. Experience the Bellevue Body Queen Difference.

The Tummy Tuck is performed as an outpatient procedure, and the duration of surgery will vary depending on the type of tummy tuck and extent of other areas treated.
